To all my CFOLL (Crazy Friends of LuLu’s, LOL!)
What a beautiful day in my neighborhood! Spring has definitely sprung: our devoted flocks of Snow Birds have nearly all flown the coop for home and the masses of Spring Breakers are finishing up their yearly celebration on our shore. Is it time for a nap? Not in LuLu-Land…not hardly! It’s time to dust off your tail-feathers and get ready to start shakin’! Things are popping around here like grease in a hot iron skillet.
The Good Life Ride to LuLu’s, May 6th, will get you moving! This fun cycling event promotes Complete Streets promoting safe roadway access for pedestrians, cyclists and motorists. Check out http://www.thegoodlifefound.org/good-life-ride.html for details. (Of course, my favorite part is the finish line at LuLu’s!)
I’m proud that LuLu’s has participated in the Fairhope Rotary International Steak Championship Cook-Off since its inception. Billed as the “coolest street party in the known universe,” this year’s shindig will be May 11th and my executive chef, Dylan, is super-excited about competing! We’ll be sampling some of the flavors from my new cookbook-in-progress (Crazy Sista Cantina Cooking).
Please come support Rotary’s worthwhile (and fun) charity event and be sure to vote for LuLu’s Coffee-Rubbed Ribeye!
As if that weren’t enough sizzle, here comes LULUPALOOZA! Our musical director, “Mikey-B”, has outdone himself this year, with a lineup – maybe our best ever - sure to have everyone on their feet, shakin’ what the good Lord gave ‘em. LuLuPalooza 2012 is all Funked Up! We’ve got blues, bluegrass, roots-rock, brass & gospel, all infused with funky soul. This is going to be a party; I can’t wait! The boogie begins Saturday, May 26th with the bayou-roots rock of Honey Island Swamp Band; we’ll throw in some tasty Eric Lindell blues and finish the day with the Sacred Steel-tradition of The Lee Boys’ gospel funk. On Sunday, May 27th the dance party continues with the unique sound of newgrass band Dread Clampitt and the sassy horns of Bonerama. We top it off with the “notorious” Louisiana roots-funk of Grammy-nominated Roddie Romero & the Hub City All-Stars. You will be gettin’ down! Oh, but wait, that’s not all…of course we have lagniappe for you! If you haven’t seen him work before, you do not want to miss New Orleans’ renowned music-performance artist Frenchy; prepare to be mesmerized. And, do you wanna know the best part? LULUPALOOZA IS 100% FREE because at LuLu’s, live music is always our gift to you, and our way of celebrating and supporting area musicians. This is going to be a fantastic weekend; don’t miss a minute! Come get your groove on.
WOW! All that…and it isn’t even summer yet! Whenever you get the chance to hang with us at LuLu’s, you won’t be disappointed. I promise you’ll have the best beachin’ experience in Gulf Shores, at the one and only LuLu’s! I’ll see you soon, got to go find my dancin’ shoes...
All my crazy sista gumbo love,

When the Gulf of Mexico and its coastal residents experienced the tragic oil spill in April 2010, Lucy Buffett could not sit by idle as the situation became more and more alarming…watching as crude oil flowed mercilessly into her beautiful Gulf of Mexico, she felt a responsibility to act as her childhood home, its beaches, its people, and its habitat suffered.
