Music has always been a big thing in Matt Smith's life. Originally from Opelika, Alabama, this singer/songwriter began playing music at a young age. He began playing for live audiences in 2004 and his word-of-mouth fan base began to grow throughout the region. While in college Smith formed a band with country artist Riley Green called Southern Harmony. What began as a small local college band quickly became a sought-after act with a unique sound and style, blending Smith’s guitar skills with a wide variety of musical genres. Southern Harmony's first E.P. was released online in 2008 and they continued to play until 2010. The high energy of his performances led to many opportunities for this versatile young musician. Smith has opened and shared the stage with nationally-recgonized acts including Zac Brown Band, Sam Hunt, Corey Smith, Delbert McClinton, Adam Hood, Riley Green, Paul McDonald, The Grand Magnolias, Hightide Blues, Taylor Hicks, and Rollin In The Hay.

In 2011, Smith spent the summer out west where he played several shows in Colorado. He later moved to Birmingham, Alabama where he joined the band Red Mountain. The Birmingham band was highly successful and quickly gained a grassroots following throughout the region. Red Mountain was also featured in Birmingham Metro Magazine as one of the top up and coming bands to watch for. Smith played around the Southeast with Red Mountain until the band went on hiatus in 2013. Since then Smith has performed with Blanton Reed, Riley Green, Michael Warren, Chris Posey, Trey Lewis and many others.

In 2014 Smith released his debut E.P online and in select stores. His originals are a mixture of personal experience and reflection from his life. In 2015 and 2016 Smith continued to play an impressive 100 plus shows a year across the South with various artist and bands while working on his newest E.P. titled White Lines & Highway Signs. Smith’s new E.P. truly show’s his country roots and southern upbringing. Smith released the E.P. in February 2017 and continues to tour dates across the south.
