Let the good times roll, or, laissez-les bons temps rouler! On Wednesday, February 27 at 7 p.m., LuLu’s Gulf Shores will host their annual Birds of Paradise Mardi Gras Ball presented by Krewe De Lu Roux. Feast on a delicious Big Easy inspired buffet dinner featuring an open bar with select wine, beer and liquor at this all-inclusive event.
Guests will enjoy a festive evening with live entertainment bringing funk and Motown classics to the stage with ever popular Tip Tops. From Mobile, the Tip Tops are known for “bringing the house down” entertaining guests with the best dance songs of many genres. Dress is island elegance, anything goes from tuxedo t-shirts to full ball gown.
Join the welcoming and official coronation of the Ball’s 2019 Mardi Gras King and Queen. The King will be proud River Rat Don Druce. Don has recently retired from 25 years of occupational safety, site security and dealing with environmental compliance. He still consults for a global safety company. Don is proud to say he was at LuLu’s, under the Fish River Bridge, the first day it opened and just about every day thereafter. He was also there the last day and was honored to have been a part of the barge flotilla, moving LuLu’s to its new location 20 years ago. Don has been a lifelong supporter of LuLu’s in our 20 years and we couldn’t be more proud to have him as our king.
The Queen will be local entrepreneur, Ava Sobieszek. Ava was born in Poland and came to Boston in 1990. She visited Alabama’s Gulf Coast in 2005, fell in love, and moved here 9 months later. It was natural for Ava, having been a floral designer since she moved to United States, to have her own floral business “A Flower Box,” which started to bloom in 2011. Ava also acquired a successful upscale full service wedding planning company, “All The Details”. Both businesses, “A Flower Box” and “All The Details,” focus on special events. Also as a floral designer, she decorates private homes and businesses for holidays, everyday arrangements and occasional funeral work. Ava has provided flowers and arbors for our Annual Valentine’s Vow Renewal Ceremony here at LuLu’s Restaurant and flowers for our Annual Birds of Paradise Mardi Gras Ball.”
Lucy Buffett, restaurateur, and author commented, “LuLu’s is celebrating Mardi Gras the only way we know how…a real party! We’ve been hosting a Birds of Paradise Mardi Gras Ball at our Gulf Shores restaurant for the past six years and it has grown into a highly anticipated, must go to event. LuLu’s will be closed to the public February 27th, and tickets are limited for the comfort and exclusivity of our guests.”
The Mardi Gras Ball is a 21 and older event. Tickets are limited and the all-inclusive cost is $75 per person. Order on-line at www.LuLuBuffett.com, by telephone (251) 967-5858, or at the restaurant. LuLu’s is located in Gulf Shores under the ICW Bridge on HWY 59.
